Every uncovered window is an open invitation for the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays to accelerate the fading process in your furniture, carpet, wood finishes, draperies, wallpapers, and artwork. Solar Tint window tinting dramatically increases the life of your home or office interior without blocking your view.

Fading damage is caused primarily by the absorption of solar energy transmitted through your glass. Some types of fabrics and dyes will fade more quickly with different types of light but, on average, 40% of the damage is caused by the absorption of the ultraviolet light (UV) while visible light and heat (or infrared light) are jointly responsible for another 50%. The 10% balance of the damage is caused by factors, which do not pass through the glass such as artificial lighting, humidity, ambient room temperature and pollutants. Since all of our films block at least 99% of the UV rays but block different portions of sunlight, Solar Tint’s window tint provides varying degrees of protection by filtering the damaging rays.

With Solar Tint window films, beautiful colors and fabrics stay brighter longer. Stop pulling the drapes or closing the blinds, protect your interiors while enjoying the view with Solar Tint window tinting for your home or business.

Allow Solar Tint to save you money all year long on your energy costs. Our window film acts as an insulator for your glass no matter what type of window you have – single pane, double pane, low-e, etc.

During the summer months, Solar Tint window film will keep the heat out, lowering your air conditioning bills.

In the winter, our window film can help keep the cold out and the heat you are paying for inside.

Not only do you save on your energy costs, but the work load on your HVAC system is reduced saving you money as it lasts longer.

Our knowledgeable salespeople can provide you with the payback period for the film you choose based solely upon the energy savings. They can also help you decide which film will best suit your particular needs.

The federal government and many utility companies (including Duke Energy) are realizing the benefit of window film. Residential customers can receive a tax credit under the Energy Policy Act of 2005 for installing 3M™ window films. Commercial customers are eligible for a tax deduction and an incentive from Duke Energy. Please contact us for further details.

You should have a bright home or office interior without annoying sun glare, and now you can with Solar Tint.

Glare is purely subjective; while you may find glaring unbearable, others may describe the same condition as sparkling. Glare cannot be quantified or measured with a meter.

The essence of glare is too much contrast. It is considered that there are two types of glare – disablement and discomfort. Disablement actually reduces your ability to see. A glaring car headlight physically prevents you from seeing detail in the darkness beyond. Discomfort glare is just what it sounds like, and over prolonged periods it leads to eyestrain, fatigue, and headaches.

Disablement and discomfort glare can be handled with Solar Tint. Choosing Solar Tint window enhancing films for your home or office is a decision with which you can be very comfortable.

Solar Tint’s 3M™ Safety & Security Window Films help protect lives and property by a combination of innovations you’ve come to expect from 3M™.

Grab Crimes

Although large glass windows at street level are one of the best ways commercial merchants and service businesses have to showcase their product or service, these areas are increasingly at risk from “smash and grab” vandalism. According to the FBI’s Unified Crime Report, almost 70% of all burglaries involve forced entry through a window or door. Since unprotected glass is easiest to enter, windows are most commonly involved.

Help reduce your risk, like thousands of others in the tri-state (including Staples, Lenscrafters, and Walgreens), to “smash and grab” crime with Solar Tint Safety & Security Window Film. Handheld weapons such as a hammer, bat, crowbar, or brick might shatter the glass, but it requires prolonged attention-getting blows to get thru safety film. Generally a burglar cannot risk the time and attention to break through and will abandon the attempt.

Terrorist Bombings

The scary and heart-wrenching scenes on TV are all too familiar: Shattered windows, bleeding victims, shocked and dismayed witnesses to a terrorist attack. Terrorists pose a big threat to building security, but the threat can be reduced by using Solar Tint Safety & Security Window Films.

Blast studies show that many of the lost lives and injuries result from shards of glass flying through the air. When shattered by a bomb blast, an ordinary window is broken into thousands of deadly airborne daggers that blind and maim people. Our Safety & Security Films can help be a cost effective measure to gain immediate protection from this threat.

Although the film doesn’t stop glass breakage, it does help keep the glass fragments together and prevent flying shards. All of the Safety & Security Films we install have been put through the Safety Impact Tests. Contact us today to find out why our nation’s capitol, many other buildings, and our troops vehicles are protected with 3M™ Safety & Security Window Film.

Industrial Explosions

Blasts don’t only come from terrorists. Petrochemical plant explosions have killed hundreds of people in the last year alone. Blast studies show that most of the deaths and injuries to personell in petrochemical facility explosions result from shards of glass flying through the air. Solar Tint’s Safety & Security Films can help be a cost effective measure to gain immediate protection.

Severe Weather

The most vulnerable part of any building or residential home to high winds or hurricanes is its windows. Most of the damage and injuries from the Atlanta tornado in March was due to broken windows. High winds propel debris into unprotected windows and shatter them. With the exterior “envelope” compromised, winds rush into the building and create pressures high enough to blow the roof and walls apart. Help protect your building envelope with our Safety & Security Film, which have a very high resistance to tearing even after they have been punctured by hurling debris unlike other films.

Earthquakes

Glass breakage as a result of earthquakes has been identified as a potential hazard by civil authorities. During an earthquake, the broken glass can damage the contents of a building or even cause serious injury or death. Thousands died earlier this month in China due to a horrific earthquake. Reduce your risk to quake damage with Solar Tint’s 3M™ Safety & Security Film. 3M™’s Ultraflex installation method is highly resistant to dynamic racking motions experienced during an earthquake.

Skin cancer is the most common and fastest growing cancer in the world, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation. Doctor’s tell us that the sun’s ultraviolet rays, along with the eroding ozone layer, are leading to unprecedented increases in skin cancer, other serious medical conditions, and premature aging of the skin in people of all ages. By taking precautions to routinely avoid sun overexposure, you can help yourself and your family beat the odds.

One of the recommended precautions for UV protection of the skin by The Skin Cancer Foundation, The Melanoma Foundation, and The XP Skin Cancer Foundation is window film. Some of the newer windows in automobiles, homes, and businesses offer a degree of protection, blocking the sun’s skin-burning UVB light, but not deep-penetrating UVA rays. Solar Tint offers window films that block essentially all harmful UV rays, the leading cause of skin cancer and other dangerous conditions that impact all ages.

With Solar Tint, you can let the sunshine in while keeping the harmful UVB and deep-penetrating UVA rays out!

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 created federal tax credits for homeowners who make certain energy efficient improvements. In January 2013 President Obama extended these tax credits for energy efficient home improvements made in 2012 or 2013. Consumers purchasing qualifying 3M Window Film products between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2013 can receive a tax credit. Click here (PDF, 1.3 Mb) for a list of qualifying 3M Window Film products. A tax credit directly reduces your overall income tax, which is much better than a deduction, which reduces the amount of income subject to tax. Homeowners can receive a 10 percent credit on the costs of qualified window film products, up to a maximum of $500. Must be an existing home and your principal residence. New construction and rentals do not qualify.

Complete IRS form 5695 and file your 2012 or 2013 Income Tax Return. Download IRS form 5695 (PDF, 206 Kb) from the IRS website, along with a list of other available energy efficiency tax credits. You will need a copy of the dealer invoice for the window film product, separated by cost for film and installation. Installation costs are not eligible for the tax credit. You will also need a copy of the manufacturer’s certification statement, which determines which products qualify based upon where you reside. Make sure to keep a copy of both of these documents for your records.
The 3M Company offers window films for commercial buildings to help combat the costly damage caused by graffiti. The etching, scratching, painting, and marking of glass are expensive and rapidly growing problems worldwide. Anti-graffiti films offer building owners and managers the opportunity to minimize the $12 billion annual cost associated with graffiti abatement in the United States.

When applied to surfaces that vandals often target, such as interior and exterior windows, mirrors, and other glass, the anti-graffiti film provides protection by taking the brunt of graffiti damage. Paints, permanent markings, and other stains can be easily removed from the protective surface without the use of harsh chemicals. That is because film damaged by etching or scratching can be easily removed and replaced with new film. Using the protective film also eliminates the expense of conventional graffiti cleanup or the even costlier total replacement of graffiti-damaged equipment or property.

This optically clear, distortion-free, anti-graffiti film can be applied to windows, mirrors, and other surfaces. In addition to resisting damage from glass-etching solutions used by vandals, these films also offer other benefits by blocking heat, glare, and up to 99.9% of damaging UV rays.

Selecting 3M Window Films gives you peace of mind. That’s because 3M has one of the most comprehensive warranties you can get, whether for your home, car or business. Your warranty is backed by a company you know and trust.
